Iquique - Challakrolo

100 km inland from the city of Iquique, in the center of the Tamarugal desert, Challakrolo awaits to provide you with all the amenities of its tourist center. The water is extracted from the subsoil of the Tamarugal desert itself. Its accommodations stand out, reflecting an architectural pattern rescued from the dwellings of the ancient inhabitants of the area's desert. They are called “putukus”: they are made of salt, are circular, and have very thick walls that naturally moderate the interior climate of the desert that this place normally presents, which is cold at night and warm during the day.
